One of my new year’s resolution was to read a book a fortnight. I managed to get through 4 books this month! This is thanks largely to my long commute time in the morning (an hour +). Here are the books I got through in January:
Lost & Founder by Rand Fishkin – Rand is the founder of Moz, a SAAS company that builds tools that helps companies with their SEO etc. This book is fairly easy to read and provide a lot of helpful business and startup tips, particularly to early founders. Rand takes us through all the mistakes he’s been through and provide advice on each stage of a founder’s journey, from hiring to raising money to acquisitions.
You only have to be right once by Randall Lane – Randall’s book tells the stories of brilliant entrepreneurs that he interviewed. It’s a collection of tech billionaires stories such as Sean Parker (founder of napster), Kevin Systrom (founder of Instagram), Evan Spiegel (Snapchat), Jan Koum (Whatsapp), Elon Musk (Tesla) etc. You can find some inspirations here or realise that you’ll probably never become as successful as these guys. Either way, this is a fun read in which you learn more about their life pre – billionaire.
The subtle art of not giving a f*ck by Mark Manson – It’s not about not giving a fk about everything, but it’s about choosing the right things to give a fk about. Go out there and start enjoying life!
The courage to be disliked by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga – This is based of the best selling Japanese self help book. It talks a lot about different psychological ideas and teachings. It’s very interesting where this book focus heavily on Adlerian psychology, and I can guarantee if you finish this book, it’ll change the way you think about being happy differently.
Let me know what you think!
Cheers,
